Determine ring sizes based
on finger circumference
There are several ways to determine the correct ring size. One of the simplest ways to find out your ring size is to measure using a piece of string. Wrap the string snugly around the part of your finger where the ring will sit. Make sure the string fits over the knuckle, as for some people the middle of the finger is thicker than the base.
You can tie a knot in the thread and cut it exactly where the ends meet. Then hold this piece of string against a ruler. A length of 6.2 cm (62 mm) corresponds roughly to ring size 62. This measurement serves as a guide, for example, to provide suitable ring size samples when ordering online.
Determine ring size based on diameter
For this method, you’ll need a ring that fits the person who will be wearing it later. This measurement method is particularly useful if, for example, you’re planning to propose to your future partner and want to find out their ring size.
Ideally, the ring you use for measuring should be the same shape as the chosen ring and worn on the same finger. Use a caliper to measure the inner diameter of the ring and multiply the result by 3.14. This will give you the inner circumference in mm. An inner circumference of 55 mm corresponds to a ring size of 55. Instead of a caliper, you can also slide a rolled-up piece of paper along the inside of the ring band and then measure its length with a ruler.
